I'm dreaming of a Wright Christmas…
Wright’s next Modern auction catalog just went live. Here’s what I like—consider it a Christmas list:

OSVALDO BORSANI, 1954
Estimate: $3,000–5,000
(but it’s beat to Hell, so I’m sure it’ll go for less. Right?)
or this one:

VLADIMIR KAGAN, 1967
Estimate: $5,000–7,000

FLORENCE KNOLL, 1950/c. 1960
Estimate: $3,000–5,000

GERALD MCCABE, c. 1970
Estimate: $3,000–5,000
And to show I’m not completely selfish, Lisa needs a new desk, too:

JEAN PROUVÉ, 1953
Estimate: $7,000–9,000
And for the budget-conscious shoppers among you:

BRUNO MATHSSON, 1941
It’s a “Book Crib”
Estimate: $700–900
But, hands-down, the thing I want most from the auction is this:

R. BUCKMINSTER FULLER, c. 1960
Geodesic Home model
mixed media
Pease Woodworking Company was licensed by Fuller to manufacture prefabricated geodesic dome buildings. This model was a salesman sample for a structure marketed as a home.
Estimate: $1,000–1,500

Been keeping a running list for the last few months of funny things Finn says:
“I have an idea for an invention: a helmet that helps inventors think of inventions.”
“When you’re in MY hot lava, you go by MY rules.”
“Don’t fall asleep on the plane or you’ll miss your stop.”
Finn: “Mommy, is this all a dream?”
Lisa: “What do you mean?”
Finn: “What if I wake up and I’m actually an old man?”
Pause…
“Or an old woman?”
“You don’t always get your commands, Cormie.”
Finn dreads going to summer camp. He kicked and screamed when our neighbor dropped him off, and finally resigned himself:
“Text my mom and dad and tell them that I love them!”
“That stinkin’ shoe place took the only toy store in Chicago.”
“I wonder why there’s two kinda Finns: like a fish and my name. And why there’s two kinda hot, like a girl can be hot and like ‘Ouch! That’s hot.’”
“I wish I had one eye. That’d be cooler…”
After some thought…
“Actually, two is better—so you don’t hafta see your nose.”
When looking at the Tron DVD I was suggesting we watch:
“Disney?! Huh. That should be on my underpants.”
(as he recently got a 6 pack of Disney briefs.)
“You know, Tronderpants…”
And last night, at our favorite restaurant, when our Ultimate Grilled Cheese arrived, Finn said of the packed and heavily-garnished plate: “It’s like it’s in a wonderland.”

If you like historical adventure tales, read this! I’m really liking it. Heard it’s gonna be a movie, too. Though my excitement about that is tempered by the fact that it’ll star Brad Pitt.

And here are two other favorites of mine in the same vein.

2 x 5
I made Finn a couple of options for his annual birthday t-shirt. The one on the left is glow-in-the-dark paint, and I think that’s gonna be the one he wears at Chuck E. Cheese tomorrow.

Petting Zoo
Here’s Cormac loving up a goat the way he does our dog. Probably because they look remarkably similar.
