SO good. A synthier, 80s-er twist on his great, melodic songs. Some poppier moments, and some weirder ones, too.

I thought my friend Rick was pulling my leg when he told me about this the other day. But it wasn’t some fantasy! He took me to a special pop-up store by Numero Records and then we hit Dusty Groove, just to make sure we’d gone overboard. Here’s my haul:
The find of the day: Sealed Tron soundtrack!
You have to catch the “bomb” (the ball) or it explodes. And the Bad Guy (Santos) is trying to get it and keep you from catching it.
And I never noticed how big and round Cormac’s head is:

Of course my new obsession is supplying me with many exciting musical discoveries, but it also has the added bonus of unearthing many and varied record company logos. Here’s one I found today:

My new turntable. A late-70s Optonica I picked up at the legendary Saturday Audio Exchange here in Chicago. Works and sounds awesome. And I’m slowly—so as not to cause alarm to Lisa—beginning to acquire vinyl with which to enjoy it. My current plan is to limit my collection to records that originally came out on vinyl and/or were recorded with vinyl in mind. Applicable genres that are of interest to me are mercifully few. Currently it’s 70s-80s prog and electronic music. Though I’m straying on either side of that formula—into new age on one side and psych on the other. Still, no pressure—will just slowly start amassing gems to enjoy here in the office.
